Classification and function of dust rings

Wiper can be divided into lip shaped dust rings, Tekang combination dust rings, and Zokang combination dust rings, among which lip shaped dust rings can be further divided into skeleton lip shaped dust rings and frameless lip shaped dust rings.

(1) Skeleton lip shaped dust ring: It uses the interference fit between the skeleton and the cavity hole to prevent detachment. The lip of the dust ring is flush with the end of the cylinder head, and this structure can prevent external damage to the lip. It is often used in situations where the lip of walking machinery such as construction machinery and garbage trucks is easily damaged.

(2) Skeletonless lip shaped dust ring: It is installed in a closed groove at the front end of the cylinder head. When designing, the lip must be slightly protruding from the end of the cylinder head to facilitate the removal of dirt blocked by the lip. This structure is easy to install and widely used, and can be used in general industrial hydraulic, walking hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

(3) Tekang Combination Dust Ring (PTFE+Rubber): It uses the elasticity of the O-ring to provide real-time wear compensation for worn PTFE lips. When paired with different materials of O-rings, it can be used in high-speed, high-temperature, and special working media situations.

(4) Zuokang combination dust ring (polyurethane ten rubber): Not commonly used, the structure is the same as Tekang combination dust ring, the difference is that the polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) part is changed to polyurethane (PU). It utilizes the elasticity of the O-ring to provide real-time wear compensation for worn polyurethane (PU) lips, and its advantage is that it has a longer lifespan than ordinary lip shaped dust rings.

A layer of oil film adheres to the surface of the piston rod of the oil cylinder. The use of oil cylinders generally involves dust or sand particles, which adhere to the oil film on the surface of the piston rod and can be carried into the cylinder, causing scratches on the lip edge of the lip shaped sealing ring on the piston rod or the surface of the piston rod, resulting in medium leakage. Therefore, it is necessary to install a dust ring on the outside of the piston rod sealing ring, near the end face of the cylinder.

The dust ring is installed in the groove, and due to a certain degree of interference between the lip edge of the dust ring and the piston rod, the lip edge of the dust ring is tightly attached to the surface of the piston rod.

The piston rod moves back and forth, and the dust and sand particles adhering to the surface of the piston rod are removed by the dust ring. There is a certain gap between the right section of the dust ring lip and the piston rod, which can reduce the frictional resistance between the dust ring lip and the piston rod.
